Hello, I am Max Neumann – musician, handpan teacher and founder of the Handpan Shop in Balingen.

The handpan means the world to me. It allowed me to find my way into music – in a way that connects heart and mind. Today I can pass on exactly that: sound, structure, and the joy of playing to all who feel drawn to the magic of this instrument.

My path to the handpan

After many years as a drummer and cajon player, I found my first handpan in 2020 – rather by chance, during a trip to India. It wasn't a perfect instrument, but the sound immediately touched me deeply. I started playing right away – first for myself, then soon also at yoga sessions and small concerts. The connection between sound, emotion, and encounter was so strong that I knew: This is my path.

What defines me

In my workshops and interactions with clients, I place great emphasis on an honest and relaxed atmosphere. I combine structured concepts with an intuitive approach so that beginners and advanced players alike can find their way to the handpan.

With the handpan shop, I want to be more than just a store. I want to be a place for sound enthusiasts, curious minds, and musicians looking for a special instrument – ​​to try out, rent, buy, and learn. Besides high-quality handpans, you'll also find the right accessories, advice, workshops, and personal sound sessions.

What motivates me

It's the moment when someone strikes a handpan for the first time and suddenly falls silent. When a smile spreads across their face. When someone dares to be musical, even though they never saw themselves as a musician.

That's why I set up the handpan shop.
